The fifth edition of the
International RFID Congress, organised by the CNRFID and co-located with
RFID in Europe, will be a unique opportunity to take stock of deployments, new applications, changing technologies and any returns on investments.
This anniversary edition will focus on all the themes of the previous congresses: the Industry, Retail, Healthcare and Local Authorities.

To support our research activity, IMaR has a number of positions under IT Tralee’s 2014 Postgraduate Scholarship Programme which is due to commence in September 2014. Graduates holding a relevant Level 8 Honours Degree (H2:2 or Higher) are invited to submit an application. Successful applicants will be awarded a bursary of €12,000 (€6,000 per annum), and the Institute will cover all student fees, for a maximum period of two years.
The research projects in which the IMaR center is involved are :
- Applications of Automated Identifications Systems to the Productive Ward
- A MultiAgent Framework for the Internet of Things
- Measuring Social Engagement within a Triple- Helix Cluster consisting of the Academic Institute, the Research Centre and the Public Authority using Sociometers
- Automated Telemetric Food Safety System Targeting Transport & Distribution
- Automonous Mobile Assistive Technologies for the Agricultural Sector
Postgraduate students are expected to complete their studies full-time at the Institute. The closing date for receipt of applications is
15th August 2014. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend for interview during week commencing 1st September, 2014. Applicants who are eligible to apply for grants through Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) should note that the deadline for application is 1st August, 2014.

We currently have an opening for an experienced Hardware/Electronic Engineer to join the IMaR team.
Candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Experience with Hardware Design, CAD packages & 3D Printing packages (stl)
- Experience with electronics; analogue, digital, embedded etc.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes & instrumentation.
- Good organizational skills,
- An ability to manage resources
- The working knowledge of PCB layout and schematic capture packages
The following skills would be desirable:
- Familiarity with mechanical system design and materials technology
- Familiarity with the academic research and industrial environments and willingness to contribute to the group as a whole to develop this and other projects.
- Self-motivated, reliable and hard-working.

We currently have an opening for an experienced Software Engineer to join the IMaR team.
Candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Strong software design and development skills.

JavaAcript HTML5 etc)
- Object Orientated development (Java, C# , C++ etc)
- Ability to exercise a degree of innovation and creative problem solving.
- Experience with software development life cycle

- Familiarity with the academic research and industrial environments and willingness to contribute to the group as a whole to develop this and other projects.

The Institute of Technology, Tralee is living up to its aim to become a Technological Hub for the region in opening up the first
Open Device Lab (ODL) in Ireland. The Open Device Lab was officially launched during Tech Week, with Industry Reps from the ICT Industries attending talks, demos and tours of the facilities available.
The IMaR team were involved in the establishment of the lab which will allow the center to to inprove it devlopemtn and testing of mobile apps.
There are currently 111 Open Device Labs (ODLs) across 26 countries around the world. The Institute of Technology, Tralee is very proud to announce that it has established the very first one in Ireland.
