Tricel is a family owned manufacturing business founded in Killarney County Kerry which today is the parent site of a growing number of international locations.
Tricel engaged in a partnership with ACE supported by DETE Regional Enterprise Transition Scheme fund administered by Enterprise Ireland to deliver digital immersive technology services on a pilot basis as part of their company training.
The first engagement with Tricel was a full 3D scan of the Tricel Killarney site. This Virtual Tour supports the induction and onboarding of new staff. The experience also shares best practices and promotes the Tricel Killarney culture across all international locations within all levels of the organisation. This content also supported further training in areas such as fire evacuation drills and other business protocol.
Following onboarding and induction training, the focus was on both new recruits and long-term employees in the areas of process training where it may be the trainee’s first time on the job or a case of a requalification. With the support of the Tricel training officer and the traditional training work instructions, ACE created augmented reality content training material through mixed reality to ensure safe best work practices, right-first-time production in an efficient manner meeting customer expectation.
Client Feedback – In the case of new employees and improvement through effective training, where there was a reported reduction in the time required around mentoring and shadowing on the job, while also ensuring a streamlined process. An improvement was also seen in a reduction in the number of defect products produced.
