Tom Fitzmaurice has been involved with IMaR since 2016 when he took on a new and challenging role as Business Development Manager with the Dublin based Applied IoT Cluster. Through the Cluster Tom has engaged and worked closely with hundreds of Irish SMEs and start-ups to develop collaborative projects with members of the broader Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway Network. In May of 2022, Tom re-rooted himself back in Kerry when he took over the role of Manager with the IMaR Technology Gateway. Tom and the wider team within the IMaR Research Centre at MTU have access to research and engineering professionals who are available to assist companies in their development of new and innovative products, processes and services. Tom is also available to provide information on and assistance with the various R&D funding mechanisms available to companies for such projects.
Prior to joining IMaR, Tom spent the previous twenty-five years in the development and delivery of large-scale, high accuracy, metrology-based engineering solutions and training programmes to industry leaders worldwide including, Airbus, GKN Aerospace, BAe Systems, Babcock Marine, Boeing, NASA, Northrop Grumman, Vestas, McLaren, General Motors and Chrysler.
A spoilt husband and proud dad of 4 daughters & 1 son, Tom, enjoys cooking (everything on the BBQ), walking, hurling, vintage cars, puzzle solving, taking care of umpteen DIY projects and dabbling with craft beers... favourite movie: "The Champ", favourite food: "anything BBQ'd"
