Project Title:

Development of Multi-Sensor Fusion Perception Systems for Obstacle Detection in Container Terminals.

Partner Company:

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd.

Project Overview:

The development of the elements of an autonomous rubber-tyred gantry movement in a container terminals environment relating to computer vision. The research aims to identify the limiting use conditions for reliable and safe detection of objects and personnel within the environment of interest under different environmental conditions (including weather and illumination) and the sensor characteristics. It involves developing a perception system for rubber-tyred gantry cranes by evaluating a range of sensors that are well-established in autonomous vehicles for environment perception, such as camera, radar, and lidar, sensor calibrations, and developing sensor fusion algorithms for object detection.
