Business Need:

Safety is of paramount importance in mines and quarries, and a solution for monitoring rock formations was sought which not only would be easily installed, accurate and cost effective, but also provides for convenient remote monitoring.  

Solution:

MaR, in cooperation with the client, developed a safety system with the capacity to place sensors up to a kilometre apart, which generates alerts when it detects rock movements and other problems and which has been deployed a working prototype system in an existing mine. The prototype system has the capacity to monitor 256 locations, thereby providing detailed formation monitoring for quarry management.
